Wiki & Abstracts (no. 22) - Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitiz is one of the most celebrated photographers of our time.

This week during group presentations the Print/Magazine group's presentation made me think of her. So I figured I give Leibovitz a shout out in a blog post!

Leibovitz started her career working in Rolling Stone magazine taking pictures of musicians and celebrities. Her photographs that captured the essence of the subjects celebrity and her bold use of color, lighting, and posing became her signature style.

Leibovitz has used her photography to create some of the most beautiful and captivating magazine spreads and advertising campaigns. She helped redefine of what can be art in the advertising world.

Most of Leibovitz's most famous work features the most famous celebrities around.

Another style Leibovitz's is famous for is portraying her famous subjects in a fairytale-like manner. She creates a story for the audience is the most whimsical, breath-taking way.

She did a campaign for Walt Disney!

But the most famous photograph that Annie Leibovitz has ever taken was the dual portrait of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, which was not only made famous because it depicted the couple in a dramatic vulnerable pose, but also because John Lennon was shot and killed only five hours later.

ANNIE LEIBOVITZ + CAMERA = AWESOME
